Bonnie Fitzgerald @ MSOP's Sept. 30 Meeting !
Inspired Works: Mosaics old and new that light my fire.
Join Bonnie Fitzgerald as she shares images of some of her favorite mosaics, from old world pieces to wildly contemporary master works, and speculates where the inspirations come from.
Bonnie teaches workshops throughout North America, including the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC and leads study tours to destinations in Europe. She works enthusiastically to provide unique learning experiences, create beautiful art and nurture and expand creative expression through the art and community of mosaic. She often speaks to large groups about mosaics and the artistic journey and is the author of two best selling books: “Guide to Mosaic Techniques”” (2015) and “300+ Mosaic Tips, Techniques, Templates and Trade Secrets” (2012), which has been translated into 5 languages.
If you own either of Bonnie's books you are invited to bring to the meeting, she will be happy to sign. Books will also be available for sale. To learn more about Bonnie www.maverickmosaics.com
The meeting will be held at the Benchmark School 2107 N Providence Rd, Media, PA 19063 on Sunday, September 30th, 1-3:30 pm.
Yulia Hanansen " Interpreting Paintings Into Mosaics" Workshop!
Fascinated by an impressionist art? Admire John Singer Sargent's watercolors or a portrait by Rembrandt? All these artworks can be translated into a mosaic medium using stained glass as paint and cutting and nipping tools as brushes. Students will learn how to decipher the sequence in which the artwork was created, how to start, follow through and add finishing touches to the mosaic, and how to pick out proper colors and assign effective andamento (the flow). To ease the process of translation the students have a choice to use a double reverse method for glass working directly over the image. Because the layout takes place right on top of the image and the pieces are adhered to a sticky film first, the method makes the color and shape matching less complicated and the whole layout process faster. After the layout is complete, the mosaic is securely adhered to a permanent substrate.
Dates: September 29th (10 a.m.- 5 p.m.) and Sunday September 30th (9 a.m.- 4 p.m.), 2018 Workshop will be held at the Benchmark School, 2107 N Providence Rd, Media, PA 19063
Cost for MSOP Members : $330.00, for non members : $365.00
Please note that students will supply their own stained glass. Yulia will contact you two weeks prior to the workshop to guide you in your image and color choices.
Registration closes September 16, 2018
