We will show the fascinating 53 minute film, "Fold, Crumble, Crush."  "This vivid portrait of Africa’s most acclaimed living artist was filmed over two years in Italy, Nigeria, and USA. Anatsui’s huge sumptuous wall hangings, made of recycled bottle tops transformed by thousands of hours of labor, created a sensation at the Venice Biennale. Director Susan Vogel, a noted authority on African art, shows the public artist celebrated in Venice; getting supplies in his home town, Nsukka; inside his studio composing artwork with the help of a dozen young assistants. Finally, in his private home, Anatsui talks about a youthful discovery that clouded his life."

The Education Committee is also asking that members bring in any mosaics that have been created using "odd ball" materials to show during the meeting.

Artist Trading Card ( 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" or  4" x 4" ). This is a miniature work of mosaic art that is created by you before the meeting, in the comfort of your own creative space, wrapped and traded during the mid-meeting break. Please place your name on the back of your artwork, so the receiver can thank you. 

Mini Salon: We welcome a new season of gathering and look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations in mosaic you've created. Please bring in a mosaic you created to share.

After the Meeting: All snacks and drinks will be provided after the meeting (No need to bring something this time!) and we will be able to linger a bit and chat with our friends.
