Carol Shelkin:

A Painterly Approach to Mosaic Art

“Bird”, by Carol Shelkin

Join us for our Fall Meeting. We have a fun and interesting program planned and can’t wait to share it with our members and guests.

Carol Shelkin, founding member of the Mosaic Society of Philadelphia special presentation with internationally acclaimed mosaic artist. Trained as a painter at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Carol brings a richly expressive, painterly style to her mosaics that has captivated audiences across the globe.

In this talk, Carol will share how her background in fine art guided her transition into mosaic, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at how she uses photographic models to craft emotionally resonant, glass-based portraits. Her innovative techniques blur the line between painting and mosaic in a truly inspiring way.

Carol also leads mosaic workshops throughout the U.S. and hosts unforgettable art retreats in places like Mexico, Morocco, Costa Rica, Spain, and France. She’ll spotlight upcoming opportunities to study with her and dive into how art and travel intersect in these colorful destinations.
