MSoP/Perkins Community Mosaic Mural: Clay Tile Workshop

  • Perkins Center for the Arts (Collingswood) 30 Irvin Avenue Collingswood, NJ, 08108 United States (map)

Mural concept including bas relief ceramic tiles and glass border designs.

A two-session, members-only creative experience

Be part of the MSoP/Perkins Community Mosaic Mural! This special two-session clay workshop invites MSoP members to help create the custom tiles that will become part of a permanent community artwork shaped by many hands and voices.

Guided by Laura Lyn Stern—an acclaimed mosaic artist and educator with deep experience in community-based mural projects, including work with the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program—you’ll design and hand-build a clay tile that reflects the mural’s overarching theme. Laura Lyn will introduce the creative parameters, demonstrate techniques, and offer individualized support as your ideas take form.

The first session, April 19 (10–12), focuses on shaping, carving, and building your tile. The second session, May 3 (1–3), brings everyone back together to glaze, refine, and celebrate the growing collection. Participants must attend both sessions. No prior clay experience is needed—just curiosity, camaraderie, and a willingness to get your hands a little messy.

This lively, hands-on workshop is a fun and social way to contribute your artistry to a shared community vision. All materials and tools are provided. Full details will be included in your confirmation email after registration. Advanced registration is required. Hurry as only a limited number of seats are available.
